Desenio- The Ease Of Using Gallery Walls

Desenio is a Swedish company that provides high quality posters and fashionable prints online that are available in the EU, Norway, Switzerland, the US, Canada and Australia.

Wall art is the accessory that can change and lift an entire room and whether you choose abstract, minimalism, quotes or landscape Desenio have a vast range that is guaranteed to compliment your existing colour scheme or decor theme.

If you’re anything like me then visual aids are a must and help to envision and assist putting together ideas and images that are swimming around in your head. We are slowly decorating each of the rooms so the gallery wall tool is a perfect and simple concept that reminds me of an ‘online Pinterest’

Each gallery wall is categorised by room with no obligation to purchase the whole gallery as each wall art can be customised by poster, frame and accessory which amends and adjusts accordingly.

Here are the choices I opted for when using the wall gallery for myself:-

Bedroom

The bedroom is a place of calm and relaxation and the type of decor chosen helps to reflect this. Our colour scheme is white and grey which in my opinion is a perfect combination of masculine and femininity as my husband also shares the room and would definitely frown upon having lots of pink and floral.

Seeing this wall gallery immediately reminds me of how I would envision the finished result to be for our bedroom and allows colours to be added and changed without having to redo the whole bedroom decor all over again.

For both prints at sizes 50x70cm (without frames) totalling £45 and qualifying for free delivery seems very reasonable with the added bonus of how much time has been saved without the fuss of looking around at different prints and then having the daunting task of narrowing it down to the final choice.

This wall gallery is available to purchase here:- Dotted Waves Poster (No.1 & No.2)

Upstairs Landing

We have a huge wall space on the upstairs landing which is directly next to our bathroom. These prints would go perfectly to substitute the lack of wall space we have both in the bathroom and downstairs in the hallway. The vibrancy of colours and fun illustrations reminds me of our recent holiday to Cyprus and would help to ‘kickstart our day’ as these would be positioned directly facing both bedrooms.

A little bit more pricier at £67 for four prints but still brilliant value as one print consists of a size 50x70cm and two prints at 30x40cm which again can be customised to your size requirements.

This wall gallery is available to purchase here:- Pineapple & Poolside Posters

Kids Bedroom

The kids will be sharing in the new year and this is probably the hardest room to design as they are a boy and girl sharing and I would really like the decor in the room to grow with them as well as be as gender neutral as possible but still have a youthful feel to it. There wasn’t as much choice in the wall gallery selection as I would have liked but I came across these posters which would make a fabulous start to their wall decor but also giving me leeway to design their room without having to stick to a ‘jungle theme’ but still have the earthy tones to complete the rest of the room.

I could also build on these wall posters by purchasing some of the individual prints from Desenio by adding some leaf prints which would also add a pop of colour.

These are both available to purchase here:-

Baby Giraffe & Hakuna Matata Poster

Green Monstera Poster

Seeing how these prints work harmoniously together in each room gives me a revived excitement about decorating each of these rooms and makes it feel less daunting when it will be time to add the finishing touches. The wall art gallery is a wonderful innovative idea that should be the future of all online print stores.

Part Time Working Mummy

It’s the most asked question from every new Mum but the one with many different answers for each of us:-

Do I go back to work or do I stay at home with the kids?

For myself this is still the question I am struggling with nearly 34 months later since having my first child.

Before children I worked in childcare as a nursery worker both in children centres and private nurseries and then decided that I wanted to become a Nanny where I could concentrate solely on the care and attention of the child and attend to the family’s needs and requirements. Making such a huge transition was a big step and with some advice from a few Nanny friends and soon having the opportunity to look after a mutual friends baby that needed full time childcare, I ventured into my first role as a Nanny providing sole attention, care, and daily activities until unfortunately the family no longer needed me. I was back to the drawing board with only one nannying experience. So what now??

Luckily one of my Nanny friends introduced me to a childcare app called childcare.co.uk which is the UK’s largest online community of parents, childcare providers, babysitters, nurseries and private tutors. I was able to set up a profile free of charge that was safe and secure where I provided my contact details, the childcare provision I was offering, my experiences, qualifications, availability and fee which would then be put in their database for access where other parents could view my profile and contact me if they were interested.

I was a little sceptical at first as this was something completely new to me and although I had many years of childcare experience, I wasn’t sure how people who had never met me would trust me enough to contact me regarding looking after their children but I found the app very user friendly and began searching profiles of potential parents that fit my requirements, while also sending out a number of secure private messages; with the odd phone call if a number had been left on the profile that gave access to call directly and have a chat about the position further. I soon started receiving messages from both parents whom I had reached out to and visa versa.

I was really amazed and encouraged just how easy the app was to use with an added bonus of the location of each parent showing on each profile which helped me to decide which potential family I could work for as travelling by public transport was the only option so I needed something local.

I found that there are 1300 local profiles in need of childcare from putting in my postcode on the website and by viewing each parents profile I can eliminate it down further, based on both sets of requirements until I find the perfect match!

Not long after creating my online profile I started receiving messages which was a prefect way of communicating until I felt secure enough to agree to any interviews. The website provides a safety centre with information about staying safe and not conducting any visits until background and checks have been completed. I’ve found this very helpful as it assists in both safe guarding myself and online users as online safety is a really big issue. With website options offering community reporting, platform monitoring and secure document validation and sharing, I know that if we are in need of childcare for even a couple of hours; correct procedures and measures have taken place that would help to put our mind a little more at ease.

As my home life changed this has also had an effect on my job requirements and availability; now having children the balance between work and home life isn’t an easy one but it makes it less stressful knowing that all I have to do is update the profile with my current situations and I can then go through the whole process again.

Currently I am not working as a childcare provider but I have recently updated my profile and will be using the app to actively search for local babysitting positions on Saturday evenings but with the aid of regular updates of potential matches sent straight to my email it will make searching so much more easy and accessible.

Letterbox Bakery Review

So anyone that knows me will know that I love a sweet dessert so when I came across Letterbox Bakery at a Market Night and had luckily bagged a ‘Caramel Box’, my tastebuds were delightfully thankful. I then recently managed to bag another 2 boxes at another Market Night and these tasted just as good as the first time (if not even better as I had a double portion this time)

I was then kindly gifted one of their new bakes the ‘American Box’ to review and I am happy to say I have found an online bakery that I will be continuing to order from!

Each box has around 6 bakes each of assorted flavours and are beautifully wrapped in tissue paper and then covered in a cardboard box with a label clearly stating flavours, allergen advice and shelf life instructions.

These bakes contain gluten, peanuts, soya, dairy and eggs so anyone that has food allergies these unfortunately are not for you but they do come with a gluten free option when requested on the website. There is also a ‘Vegan Flapjack Box’ and a ‘Build You Own Box’ so lots of other alternatives to choose from!

All of the bakes should be covered and kept out of direct sunlight and last for around two weeks at room temperature, three weeks if stored in the fridge and can also be frozen for up to 3 months which is wonderful news if you want to ever buy in bulk or for a special occasion.

The boxes all fit easily fit through the letterbox so even if you aren’t at home for delivery you’ll have a lovely surprise waiting for you once you arrive home which personally is an added bonus as I would hate to have my food parcel outdoors for long periods of time if I’m not around.

American Box

Peanut Butter Tiffin

Peanut Butter Tiffin consists of a chocolate crumble base but soft at each bite with chewy centre bits. There is a taste of peanut butter but nothing overbearing which I found really nice as although I can manage the taste of peanut butter it’s not a flavour that I always have so to have a mild flavour of it with the addition of chocolate tasted amazing!

RATE:- 4/5

Peanut Butter Jelly Flapjack

Peanut Butter Jelly Flapjack consisted of a classic taste of flapjack covered with a sweet jelly topping. Again there wasn’t an overpowering taste of peanut butter which I loved! I think this bake is lovely for all flapjack fans but I personally find them too chewy so although these were baked to perfection (and I still ate it all) this wasn’t one of my favourites.

RATE:- 2/5

Salted Pretzel Brownie

Salted Pretzel Brownies consist of a taste of a soft chocolate centre that mouth-wateringly crumbles in your mouth. If you are a lover of all things chocolate then hands up this will be your favourite. This bake actually surprised me as although I like chocolate I don’t really eat it too much and can only have it in small portions but this was so gorgeous, rich and soft but not too chocolaty, that this was definitely one of my favourites. I loved having this with a nice hot cuppa!

RATE:- 5/5

Pop Tart Tiffin

Pop Tart Tiffins are a biscuit base covered in chocolate with a crumbly centrepiece and a sweet jelly pop tart on top. The mixture of chocolate and the pop tart work really well together as they are sweet but not a sickly type of sweet. This was my next best favourite!

RATE:- 5/5

Toffee Popcorn Flapjack

Toffee Popcorn Flapjacks surprisingly worked well together as it has a chewy centrepiece with a slight hint of a chocolate taste with popcorn pieces on top. Although it still has the standard chewy flapjack taste I found these less chewy than the Peanut Butter Jelly Flapjack but still not really to my liking (although of course I still ate it all!)

RATE:- 2/5

S’mores Brownie

S’mores Brownies are a wonderful chocolate brownie bake with a crumbly base that is also soft and melts in your mouth once bitten. Again I loved this as the chocolate wasn’t too overpowering and was something that you could eat more of without the sickly feeling you get afterwards.

RATE:-4/5

Overall all the bakes tasted so delicious and left me with a moreish feel; now they have all gone I am pining for my next box!

Thank you so much Letterbox Bakery for gifting me with these wonderful treats, these make delicious gift ideas, wedding favours or dessert buffets and you can purchase your own box here

Letterbox Bakery have kindly gifted me with a discount code that gives you 15% off your order using:- ‘gracehasfoundme’ on the website at checkout.

Although I was gifted these delicious treats everything written and all opinions are my own!

Lollipop Baby Camera Review

The Story Behind Lollipop Baby Camera

Lack of sleep for a new mother is something that is all too familiar and relatable but with the added worry of not being able to hear or see if your baby needs attention once they are asleep is something I experienced with both children.

I would have just settled Josiah and be in the shower or washing dishes and could clearly think that I have heard him cry only to rush upstairs and still find him soundly sleeping. And then there are times when he would be crying and I didn’t hear it straightaway until it got to that unmissable volume or Nia-Mae comes and gives her reports.

We had never used a baby monitor with Nia-Mae but instead used a movement detector that is placed under the mattress of the crib so to monitor her breathing and when she wakes with the additional audio monitor. It ended up being too sensitive so this was quickly removed and instead we depended on listening out for her cry. Doable with one child but having 2 children I quickly realised that I needed a monitor to be able to check on JJ and put my mind and ears at ease when I am carrying on with my other daily activities along with spending quality one-on-one time with Nee.

While being pregnant I had looked around for monitors and couldn’t find any that fit our requirements which was to wrap around the crib instead of being laid flat on a surface as JJ was still in our room in his crib. I had given up looking as there wasn’t any on the market until I came across Lollipop Baby Camera

We were kindly gifted our Turquoise Lollipop Baby Camera which is a toxic-free silicone baby monitor that provides smart intelligent video-based captures with added true crying detection. It has so many added features that are so helpful whether supporting newborns, toddlers or siblings.

Features

• Night Vision- The infrared lens gives a clear image not just during the day but also at night.

•Instant App Alerts- You can choose which notifications get sent to your phone letting you be in control when you attend to your baby’s need. Simply view the live feed or event videos to check out what is going on.

•Cry Detection- The Lollipop can tell the difference between ambient noises like the wind or traffic and when your baby is actually crying and needs attention. If your baby is crying when your out of the room, you’ll receive an alert that lets you know.

•Audio Monitor- You can have the option to turn on the audio only and use it as a traditional sound monitor which is perfect for when I’m using my phone and can’t always use the video monitor at the same time.

•Sound Machine & Microphone- The Lollipop also comes with the additional feature of white noise and you can choose from either the Music List or Sound List. Josiah’s favourites are ‘Water’ and ‘Sea Wave’.

These are the main features that stand out to me and the ones that we regularly use having had the camera for a couple of weeks. I love how even if I’m not at home I can still check that Josiah is sleeping ok.

Eventually the kids will be sharing a room and the Lollipop Baby Camera will definitely be a necessity them as I’m sure it will be another battle getting them both to settle at the same time! Along with the camera I’ll most likely be using the microphone feature telling them to ‘Get back into bed’ or ‘Stop making so much noise and go to sleep’.

I can’t emphasis just how amazing this monitor is and I think that it’s a must in every home.

Thank you so much Lollipop Baby Camera for gifting us our stylish monitor that has changed our bedtime routines for the better!

Gummee Glove Review

Every baby is different and especially being a Mummy of 2, I am finding this so true the older JJ gets. He has been teething for a few months now and while Nee never had problems with this it seems to be affecting JJ a lot more.

All fingers in mouth, dribble down chin and a nappy full of mess it was easy to see that he wasn’t copy well and especially at night.

I came across gummeeteething on Instagram and I instantly loved their product called Gummee Glove that we were kindly gifted to try out. Gummee Glove is a teething mitten designed to fit on a babies hand for ages 3m+ which helps to provide relief on their gums by the side teethers being well positioned so that when the baby brings their hand to mouth they can easily chew on the teether.

We chose the turquoise Gummee Glove (3-6 months) for stage 2 teething which comes with the detachable heart shaped teether and free laundry/travel drawstring pouch. This makes it easy to wash and keep the teether clean after baby’s use.

Once we ordered the Gummee Glove it arrived very quickly with next day delivery, I was really excited for JJ to try it as he’d had a rough few days of teething where we had needed to administer Calpol. As soon as I put the glove on JJ’s hand he knew exactly what to do with it and brought the glove to his mouth in a sideward position to allow the teether to fit in his mouth. The glove fit perfectly on his hand by the adjustable Velcro strap which makes it so useful for babies that are too young to grip onto the normal teethers.

JJ was so happy right away on the relief the teether brought him and I was especially happy as prior he had been sucking and chewing on his fingers which I were afraid would get sore as he suffers with sensitive and eczema prone skin.

We love our Gummee Glove and this is such an innovative idea that we will be using the other products when he moves up in stages.

Gummee Glove Features

Adjustable Closure

The adjustable hook and loop design means that once the mitten is fitted onto baby’s hand there is no fear of it falling off to the ground whilst you are out and about. A teether that has a perfect fit!

Secure Pocket

There is a pocket at the top of the Gummee Glove which is for the heart shaped detachable teething ring with the popper that holds the teething ring securely in place. This is good once the baby has been introduced to the glove and is comfortable with its use, it can either be used with the glove or separately as baby learns how to hold onto a teether.

Teething Ring

Every Gummee Glove comes with a free, high quality, food grade silicone, BPA & Phthalate free detachable heart shaped teething ring that can be used once baby has outgrown the Gummee Glove and can be separately used with added relief by popping it in the refrigerator for half an hour to provide instant cooling relief on hot and itchy gums.

The Side Teethers

The side teethers are perfectly designed to fit into tiny mouths so that when baby puts hand to mouth the teether is right there where it needs to be. These can also be used as gel applicators by just applying some gel to the side of the teethers. The heart shaped teether can be washed in soapy water or sterilised using any of the usual methods.

Absorbent Cotton

The Gummee Glove is made with 100% cotton which makes it really absorbent and breathable. This is particularly important as it prevents baby from getting rashes as the glove absorbs all the drool while baby stays comfortable and dry!

Machine Washable

Every Gummee Glove comes with a free laundry pouch which makes it easy to wash after baby’s use. Simply pop the glove into the drawstring bag, tightly pull the cord and loosely tie the string, then wash with similar coloured items.

The heart shaped teether can be washed in soapy water or sterilised using any of the usual methods.

Josiah has really been happy with his Gummee Glove and it’s really helped ease the discomfort he had from teething and put my mind at ease with him not getting sore fingers from putting them in his mouth. Thank you Gummee Teething!

Mummy’s Day Out (MDO)

So myself and my princess had a very busy weekend. On Saturday we attended an event called Mummy’s Day Out organised by a lovely woman named Rachel. This event was designed as a mothers social event that allows meeting up with mummies new and experience; allowing the ability in networking, advertising, encouragement, advice or just a general social gathering that allows the breakup of a mothers daily routine. Follow http://instagram.com/mummys_day_out for their future event next held in Jan 2017. Mummies you don’t want to miss out!

Personally for myself it was refreshing to be amongst other mummies from all different journeys and walks of life as sometimes being a mum on maternity leave can be lonely as times but Rachel’s personality, hospitality and extroverted charisma rounded up the day wonderfully.

The event was professionally organised where you were greeted by the host herself, shown where to place your buggies and encouraged to sit and talk amongst other mums on arrival. The decor was beautifully set out with a Christmas theme and at the front of the room MDO balloons were visible (as posted in the above picture) which were sponsored by Time2Balloon http://instagram.com/time2balloon

Entertainment was provided for the older  children with an arts and crafts table which surprisingly allowed them to be entertained for the whole duration of the event.

The venue was the perfect spot for me (as travelling from Reading with a baby in a pushchair) I needed somewhere that was central and easy access on public transport… A quick plug that https://tfl.gov.uk really should update their tube stations??!  To not have lift access in many of them is outdated and makes it very difficult for buggy and wheelchair users to get around on transportation that is largely used around the city. This drastically needs to be improved!!! But anyway many thanks to the men and women that helped me get up and down the stairs to the platforms around the Bakerloo and Central line; your kindness is remembered!

The venue was held at www.holidayinn.com/stratford-city who were very helpful, welcoming and accomating to the event and were efficient in their service of serving up our Christmas dinner that tasted very yummy (but could have done with being more of a generous serving for a hungry black woman)

The first guest speaker was a woman named Shirina Carstens who is the founder of a business called Beauty Within http://instagram.com/b_f_within that tackles inner beauty through creative arts.

Her talk was so inspirational, being a woman that had many misfortunate events and circumstances happen to her, even to the extent of contracting a bug from the hospital she delivered her daughter in which led to her having to learn to walk and talk again and then almost facing death on top of it! Shirina refused to bow out of life and pursued a business venture creating something beautiful out of the tragedy life had dealt her. Her talk was such an encouragement and a help personally to myself in remembering to

Dust myself off and get back up when I fall… To always keep trying and striving in moving forward.

Moving always forward, never backward! Don’t give up on my dreams!

Another guest speaker by the name of Jackie Gyimah spoke personally about seeing yourself not just as a mother but to remember to follow your dreams and to invest in building something for yourself (whether it be a business or a hobby)

Jackie touched on a personal account of being a young mother and a divorcee before but raised 2 children in whom both have achieved academic success. I look forward to speaking with Jackie in the future as she continues to be encouraging about going for what you want dispite what you may face in life!

She was able to tell me a little bit more about herself through interaction by FB messenger:-

“I am an aspiring motivational speaker. I am currently in the process of building my brand Real Talk With Jackie. Talking about real issues women face and are dealing with, i do this through sharing my own personal journey and experiences, as a single mother, divorcee, teenage mother the list goes on. You can listen to some of my talks on my personal facebook page Jackie Gyimah, but full length talks on MAB ministry’s prayer group”

You can follow Jackie on www.facebook.com/jackie.gyimah who will be building a brand Real Talk With Jackie in the near future.

The MDO mummies were in for a special treat with the next speaker and demonstration by Annie Nimz who is a mother of 2 and a freelance MUA with a business named BellezaByAnnieNimz.

Annie spoke about how her talent and hobby off applying make up on herself and others was soon encouraged by close family members and friends to use the social media platform to advance her gift. Annie motivated many and spoke words of truth and wisdom that

“Black women need to support each other with business ventures and not just personal ones”

This is what Annie soon learned when she first started her business Instagram page which she almost abandoned after giving birth to her second child but soon initiated once again; successfully running a mobile business and launched a makeup tutorial class in September (with another coming early next year).

Annie gave an easy to follow demonstration on how to achieve the look for ‘fleeky eyebrows’ talking about how and where to buy the tools and makeup she was using. She also gives one-to-one makeup tutorial classes that I aim to personally try out in the near future. Follow Annie Nimz for enquiries, bookings or simply take a look and support her journey on http://instagram.com/annienimz

The last guest speaker (but by far not the least) was by Styled By Tiwa http://instagram.com/tiwajenyo that gave a quick PowerPoint presentation on how to dress for different body shapes she works with  (pear, apple and hourglass) she had the task of  styling the CEO of MDO who entertained us all with a catwalk of her outfit that complimented her beautifully.

Now you know there can’t be any event without photographs to document the day and the lovely Esi captured the day wonderfully; she worked hard photographing not just the days activities but ensuring that parents and their children were able to have pictures taken together. The children even got a chance to meet Santa which was photographed professionally and efficiently. I will be posting the photographs taken of myself and Nia-Mae  by Esi Scott Photography once I receive them http://instagram.com/esi.scott

Generous sponsors for the event that blessed MDO raffle winners with their products were:-

and Unique Touch Interiors (Interior design and upcycling business) promoted her business while she was there. http://instagram.com/uniquetouchinteriors

I have yet to try their products and will be posting a blog in the near future once I’ve purchased.

Overall it was a wonderful event and day out! I enjoyed socialising and networking with all the new mommas and I’m definitely looking forward to the next event in Jan 2017. Myself and Nia-Mae have made new friendships that we hope will continue as we grow in our journey of motherhood!

Metallic Mania

I wouldn’t say I’m a fashion guru or anything and when it comes to fashion or hair and beauty I would say I’m rather a ‘plain Jane’ that tends to stick with what works for me. I don’t obsess with current fashion trends and never have.

I’m a girly girl and love all things that are sparkly and pretty and at the moment I’ve really taken a shine to ‘metallics’. I can’t get enough of them!!!

Metallics were the Spring/Summer 2016 trend and everywhere you looked from phones, make-up brushes and purses to dresses, bomber jackets and trainers they were there for the taking. Pinks, blues, golds, silver and my personal favourite rose gold.

A few of my metallic buys at the moment…

  1. Rose Gold iPhone 7+
  2. French Connection wallet
  3. Lottie The Best Of Brushes Collection Metallic Edition

iPhone 7+:- Just like marmite is the same with the iPhone. You either love it or hate it and I definitely love my rose gold iPhone 7+. It’s classy timeless look just adds to the simplicity of the software, camera use and the variety of applications and the fact that it comes with an increased capacity of 256GB is a plus! (No pun intended lol)

French Connection wallet:- This ‘mock croc’ wallet is an absolute beaut! I love the fact that the bold black at the edge of the wallet just sets off the metallic look that much more. The purse is spacious, has more than enough space for all your cards, notes and loose coins. And was a bargain from ASOS at £22.00 (they only have the tan croc/black available currently at £19.50)

Lottie The Best Of Brushes Collection Metallic Edition:- I really like the fact that along with the stunning variety of metallic colour of the brushes, each colour represents what brush is used for in make up application. Now if your really basic at makeup application like myself then you will know you need all the help in identifying what brushes are used for which area of your face.

These brushes are in a pack of five for face, blush and eyeshadow and come with a smooth shiny metallic finish. These brushes are beautiful to look at, very easy to use, soft and do the job perfectly. They are an affordable price and can be purchased from either ASOS or Superdrug at £28.

I also bought the Lottie London Blend And Snap Sponge (£5.50) that works like a dream in blending in my concealer and liquid foundation.

With Christmas around the corner I find that the metallic trend can definitely extend from just being a Spring & Summer trend. If your in a giving mood, maybe even make the perfect Christmas pressie for yourself or that someone special!
